Walk It Out

07Oct09

Did you know that the Atlanta metro ranked fifth in the nation in highest number of AIDS cases in 2007? Wow. That scary fact is part of what drives AID Atlanta’s mission of educating, counseling, and providing programs for the 25,000 clients of their organization as well as for the rest of us here in the Atlanta area.

Coming up next weekend: one of the biggest AIDS awareness fundraisers in the Southeast – the 19th(!) annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5k Run! On Sunday the 18th, join thousands of people at Piedmont Park helping to support and rally behind this amazing cause.

You can DoGood this weekend in a few ways:

  1. Walk! There’s still time to register.
  2. Donate. This year, AID Atlanta wants to reach their ultimate goal of raising $1 million so they can continue to provide these vital services to our community. Every little bit helps.
  3. Get hands-on: AID Atlanta still needs some helping hands, especially on Saturday the 17th with some of the pre-Walk set-up. Wanna help on Saturday? Contact Sherri Hamilton 404-870-7783 or by email at sherrih@aidswalkatlanta.com. Sunday helpers can register on the website (register as a “New Runner” and use the Virtual Walker/Volunteer option. Find your position options here: http://www.aidswalkatlanta.com/Page.aspx?pid=225)
  4. You can do all of the above 🙂

As per the usual with events at Piedmont, Marta is “smarta” – just hop off at the Midtown station and take the few minutes’ walk. Consider it your warm-up for the festivities 🙂
