What’d You Do for MLK Day, Atlanta?

Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I love that quote! Today was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day aka MLK Day of Service. I think it’s really cool that we have this huge volunteering initiative that happens annually in our country. A day that focuses on things, people, and causes outside of the little bubbles that we all live in. So, Atlanta, what’d you do today?

I really miss having MLK Day off from work because it made me feel good to be able to participate in service that I wouldn’t necessarily have time for otherwise, since most of my volunteering activity usually happens on Saturdays. I was pretty bitter sitting at my desk today being bored to tears, especially since we had such beautiful weather. Would have been the perfect day for an outdoorsy service project like redoing trails at a park or working on a playground for some kiddos. With any luck, maybe next year…
